Notable: Bill Holm (March 24, 1925 – December 16, 2020)

Noted curator, anthropologist, artist Bill Holm has died. Holm was 95. Childhood friend of Harry Smith Holm was the author of the essential  “Northwest Coast Indian Art: An Analysis of Form,” first published in 1965. One of the bestselling books ever published by the University of Washington Press, the book has sold more than 120,000 copies. Although Bill Holm and Harry Smith were only friends for some years in their teens, their early interests shaped them for their lifetimes– and beyond. Bill generously donated all of his Smith materials to the Harry Smith Archive and his stories of their forays together now reside at the Getty Research Institute.
